A stylish, vintage, and glamorous wedding celebration with a touch of rock ‘n’ roll, that’s exactly how I’d describe Alys and Grant’s incredible day at Henham Barns in North Suffolk, also location home to Latitude Festival!
From the moment I stepped into their ceremony and reception space, I was completely wowed. It was an autumnal dream, warm, cozy, and absolutely breathtaking. Even more impressive? Alys grew and installed all the floral and foliage arrangements herself! With the help of friends and family, they transformed the barn into a magical autumn wonderland, and I can only imagine how satisfying it must have been for them to see it all come together. The sun beamed down all day, casting gorgeous light through the barn windows, making for lovely light to play with capturing the details of the day. Alys looked like a Hollywood film star, exuding old-school glamour with her classic waves, red lipstick, and a stunning dress designed and made by her incredibly talented costume designer mum. I loved the elegant touch of adding a bow to the waistline for the evening look, such a chic switch-up! Their formal family photos were extra special, we went for a Vanity Fair-style setup, using vintage furniture and posing family members alongside them for a timeless, stylish feel. For their couple portraits, we ran through the woods and meadows nearby, capturing dreamy moments in the golden daylight and again in the evening, making the most of the last of the moody autumn light. Speeches were followed straight after with a cake cutting (before guests ate they cheered on the cake cut! Your day! Your way!) and the pearl-drop cake was super pretty, also made by Alys’s mum, had the sweetest detail—a tiny icing model of their dog, complete with a little icing on his nose, as a nod to their fur companion who couldn’t attend. And then came the first dance and disco, dance floor props, energy, and a full-blown Emo Hour throwback, with everyone rocking out. Such a vibe.
